Drought and Doubt

This year, our rain totals have been low again and the reservoir nearby is more than a hundred feet low. The water that farmers so desperately need is being rationed or cut off altogether. Its no coincidence that the word, “drought” sounds so similar to the word, “doubt”…

There are many elements that bring life, but the most powerful is WATER. Throughout scripture, water is used again and again as a symbol of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus put it this way to the woman at the well, “whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” And later he went on to say,  “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive.

Drought can come into all of our lives. Distraction, deception, disappointment and discouragement can all cause doubt and begin to dry up the fountains in our garden. In times like these, we turn to Jesus with all our hearts. He can end every drought and send His rain. He can open up the fountains of the deep and bring life-giving water up from the ground. He told us, ” You will seek for Me and find Me when you seek for me with all of your heart.” Let’s open the floodgates and release the blessings of life into our HeartGarden.
